An incremental housing prototype for rural India.

Set in the tribal district of Dang, Gujarat, Non Urban responds to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin not as a fixed housing solution, but as a flexible, self-built system rooted in context. Designed as a modular core unit, the house grows over time — adapting to changing family needs, income levels, and local practices.

Built using locally sourced materials, the project prioritizes affordability, community labor, and passive design. From procurement to expansion, each stage empowers users to participate in the making of their own home.

More than just shelter, Non Urban becomes a tool for resilient, dignified rural living — shifting the narrative from top-down delivery to bottom-up development.
